If she debuts during a random, softer week, rather than during the holiday season, I could see the numbers being around 550k instead, though.

I think it all depends. 1M would be incredibly tough though...

Not as bad as a certain person's "she'll not get higher than 250k" prediction.

Have any other solo acts done it yet? She and Taylor could be the first two if the play their cards right. Taylor will likely get it anyway, but Gaga would need a good lead single, the right promotion (but not too much hype), and the right release date.

Lil Wayne was REALLY close to getting a second million opening I think.
It's not happening unfortunately. Unless somehow the hype gets insane.

Yeah, I wouldn't get my hopes up for a 1m debut. I'm personally expecting anywhere from 500k - 800k, depending on how the next few months pan out.

I don't think Taylor is doing it again. She'll be close though.

Well she did cause a minor freak out today... and all she did was announce the month she's announcing the title.
I think she can do it if she wants to - her label may not want too much hype to build.

Gaga could get 1m if she hypes it like crazy and it's released Black Friday. Otherwise I'd expect 500-700k.
I think Gaga can do it again for sure (without Amazon, maybe) if she waits two or three years.

I wish she said something about the first single. It's not too uncommon to release a single before the album title right? That's how TTT was I think.

The original predictions for Born This Way were like 750k, right? They clearly underestimated the hype, as it would've done 800-900k without Amazon (not all the people who bought on Amazon were just there for the 99 cent discount, I'm guessing at leas half would've bought the album anyway). If she doesn't hype, and actually does do a quieter release, then perhaps she'll hit 750k.
It doesn't really matter to me whether it makes it to a million, though, because if she does everything right she'll do that again someday anyway. And even if she never pulls crazy numbers like that again she's pretty much solidified her career, and this album will help prove that unless it's absolutely dreadful.

Yeah, but that's just on Twitter. The BTW hype involved everyone, not just the internet

I'm so here for HouseGa. House music has become more popular over the years, but it hasn't hit the mainstream yet. Gaga and Zedd bringing an entire genre to Top 40..

TTT, FF, and probably a lot of other albums. I think she'll do it on the tour break. (God, how many times have I said that today? )

The original predictions were 1M+. After the release of BTW (song), they fell to around 800-900k, then after Judas people were thinking more along the lines of 700-800k. I think that was realistic. Without Amazon, the total sales would've been 750k, I reckon.

Omg yes! It will be amazing if Zedd produces the lead single. I'm hoping he does, but I wonder whether his productions will be considered safe enough by Interscope. If Gaga wants him on the lead she'll have her way, though.
It would be great to see her help change the mainstream again.
