The only reason the momentum died was because of the choice of songs. Both received a backlash. With the correct song choice, two singles could be amazing.

However, the two single strategy seems to have lost popularity within the industry as a whole.

All she needs is a commercial, fun, easy-to-digest lead single that smashes iTunes + Radio. Then release the album a month and a half to two months later.

When the first single drops I don't care about 6 weeks at number one

I want it to have longevity and last as well as sell a good amount

I really hope the first singles sucess is like WFL

I just think if they are two progressively-more-exciting Gaga singles, they could really make for a huge album debut. They need to be properly huge though, but I think she has that in her.

If Gaga releases a song that turns out to be bigger than Born This Way, they won't need to release another single before the release. If the song is fading from the top 10 ways before the album is due, then a second single closer to the album's release wouldn't hurt.

I would just do away with the promotional iTunes singles. I think that created kinda a mess, especially when TEOG started doing better than Judas

The iTunes promotion killed Judas WW. It could have worked if it was US-only, but Judas was doing well everywhere else WW before TEOG...

MTE. That made such an unnecessary mess, and really didn't accomplish much. She needs to follow a structured schedule and have a lot more focus this era. Strong singles + strong videos + strong performances. Quality over quantity.

That won't happen unfortunately. Gaga's airplay is always lower compared to her rivals, and she is very frontloaded recently. Her massive debuts are like crazy.

I'm actually interested in seeing what sort of airplay peak Gaga can manage with Mediabase as it is now. I reckon BTW could have hit at least 120M on the new system...
