this.
Rihanna is the most universally "liked" pop star, but the least "loved."

We grew to Rihanna more than Gaga, Gaga just appeared 2/3 years ago unlike Rihanna.
Rihanna isnt only catering to the GAYS. She is the only pop star that or one of the few that is actually can be liked by STRAIGHT GUYS, whites and blacks, from teens to middle aged and even children.
Rihanna is a staple in the charts. You can't deny that she isnt leaving the BB Hot 100 since then it means that people constantly listen to her. She is underrated by some in here just because some wacko or freako girl wear over the top costumes is impact. You got to give credit to Rihanna. Her 11 number 1's are not nothing and surely those numerous and multiples top 10's and smash hits are hard to ignore.

I'll give you Pokerface.
But Rihanna has Umbrella, SOS, Pon De Replay, What's My Name, Only Girl, We Found Love, Disturbia
and thats only some of them.
|
Just because it's a hit single doesn't mean it's iconic.

Glad to know your school is a legitimate receipt.

Since when is Adele a part of this discussion? I thought this was about Gaga and Rihanna

The gays can attempt to discredit Rih whenever they want, but when I open up my social media account, there are still people that consistently reference Only Girl, Take A Bow, Disturbia, and What's My Name. Hell, I'd go as far as saying that We Found Love is iconic as well. The first few notes alone and it is instantaneously recognizable. Sit.
|
Alright. But there are still people on my social media account referencing Just Dance, Love Game, Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone, and Born This Way.

Don't get me wrong though. I love Rihanna and she's one of the biggest pop stars

Born This Way is iconic simply for the name, but in addition it was one of the biggest selling songs of 2011. EVERYONE knows about BTW. As I already mentioned TEOG is widely played at sporting events around the world.
|
Whether people like the song or not is irrelevant but I would def. say "Born this way" (the single) is very memorable solely for the gay community. I don't see how anyone could dispute that. Not to say heterosexuals can't relate to the song as well but the song clearly reflects the gay community more.

Nobody cares about BTW besides the little monster. It wasnt a super smash hit like Umbrella, disturbia, WFL, Only Girl etc... Plus all her features, get over it.

BEYONCE is the pop star of the GENERATION. Rihanna is too mediocre be called that. There's nothing that she can do and others cant do better. The next generation would laugh and make fun of how crappy n low standard the music industry was if Rihanna was one.

Fun fact: Born This Way has sold as many copies digitally worldwide as Rolling In The Deep in 2011 according to official IFPI receipts (8.2 million copies)

It's like the U.S. picks a couple of black women to idolize at a time...but Rihanna definitely has pushed the boundaries. I think she's more iconic than Gaga...
Rihanna = Madonna
Gaga = Cyndi Lauper

Lol no.
Rihanna = Janet Jackson
Gaga = Madonna
Katy Perry = Cyndi Lauper.

she is the most universally liked BUT not least loved.
Nicki Minaj, Kesha and even Britney can run for that. (But I think she will be loved by the masses again when XFactor premieres cause since the breakdown everyone still ridicules her from her babies, divorce, shaved head, partying, paparazzi and drugs Im sure that is more hated than Rihanna)

!!! She doesn't have to UGLEEEfy herself to get similarly UGLEYYYYY stans to relate with her in order to sell records. She SELLS without losing her REAL persona. Everything she does is ORIGINAL, while newer acts since GGGB has been copying her, the latest one being Rita ORA.

I'm not sure, but I'm sure that Rihanna has the most broad audience in terms of any pop star. Her concert had ages 10-70, white, black, mixed, spanish, asian, straight, gay, lesbian, literally everything. She appeals to so many different sounds, and shes so recognizable, and so much like the rest of us, that I feel like she could be the biggest pop star of our generation. Though Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga are both up there.

Wrap it up, wrap it up boy, while I take this bow off!!
To be the pop star of the generation, you have to be liked BY A generation, not by a minority.
