Sis, Rihanna releases albums faster than it takes for a woman to give birth. She wouldn't have sold this many without factoring in the amount of albums in her discography.
And when are we going to get these "receipts" on how Umbrella isn't Rihanna's only iconic song? I see none
|
I realise that, did you read the whole thing? I said in the future people would not care that she averages less per album like how it is with Mariah/Whitney today.

Those are her only ones.
That's three more than Rihanna

NONE of those songs (sans "Umbrella") is "iconic" by any means. You, like many, confuse the sales of a song with it being iconic. They all sold very well digitally & did great on the charts but that doesn't deem them iconic.
I can name other hit songs that sold immensely well and you wouldn't call them iconic.

I will sit on your face if you try to deny We Found Love.

I mean, it's no surprise that Love The Way You Lie is her biggest hit so far (I have the stats to back it up)

Many of my friends have bought Talk That Talk, their men, and even the females. But thats not my point, gender is not what im talking about. im talking about her using gays. Take away her gays, where would she be?

The last two
Poker Face is more iconic than Bad Romance. The only logical reason I see in monsters claiming BR is iconic is because of the video views but it's hardly iconic. No one but her fans are still bopping to it.

Fun fact: Born This Way (the album) has gone to #1 in 19 countries (from the 23 I did research for); Rihanna in her entire career has had her albums go #1 19x but only in 9 different countries.
Summary for the less intelligent: Gaga has just as many #1 albums worldwide with Born This Way alone as Rihanna has for her entire career.

Everyone knows who she is & entertainers/significant officials (including the current Presidential family of the United States) constantly throw praise her way. She has multiple memorable hits. She's the most respected pop/R&B star of our generation.

I'm not sure, but I'm sure that Rihanna has the most broad audience in terms of any pop star. Her concert had ages 10-70, white, black, mixed, spanish, asian, straight, gay, lesbian, literally everything. She appeals to so many different sounds, and shes so recognizable, and so much like the rest of us, that I feel like she could be the biggest pop star of our generation. Though Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga are both up there.

Ok, so the Rih stans will say We Found Love is iconic, but not Poker Face or Born This Way.
Alrighty then.

Gaga has 2 iconic songs: PF and Bad Romance.
Rihanna has 3 or 4: Umbrella, We Found Love, Disturbia, and/or Dont Stop the Music
No one is saying Poker Face isn't iconic.

Well take away Rihanna's fanbase, where would she be?
The fact that most of Gaga's fanbase is gay has nothing to do with this because they're still people and still count among "our generation".

If Rihanna was white and blonde people would say she's our generation's pop icon...but since we live in the U.S. and she isn't she can't be completely. It's like the U.S. picks a couple of black women to idolize at a time...but Rihanna definitely has pushed the boundaries. I think she's more iconic than Gaga...
Rihanna = Madonna
Gaga = Cyndi Lauper
