A black GIRL. There was no male pop star who stoud out as much as Michael in his days and still now. People try to make that white boy Justin T happen but the lack of talent compared to MJ is too apparent.
However, there is a LOT more white GIRLS pop stars. So for a black girl to stand out, she has to be more than amazing or/and have the best team of producer behind her who provide her with top notch hits.
This is why Janet is never mentionned while she is clearly more talented than girls like Madonna for example.
I kinda agree. I mean you can't deny that it's a FACTOR. Not the whole reason, but a small piece of the puzzle.
My main problem with this thread.
I hope there are hypocrisy warning points, cuz I'm ready to clock them.
I don't care what they say or how pressed they are. Janet is their faves fave. I can provide receipts of all of them praising her and wanting to be her. And I think that's why they are mad.
She was eating black cooch a long time before that. You had never heard of her assistant Robyn?!??!
Educate the gerls, they clearly don't know about Nippy.
How Nippy was licking the puss puss and Clive made her marry BB to cover it up.
How Nippy was kushing it up BEFORE she got involved with BB who actually didn't turn her out.
How Nippy was hood from the get go.
Nieces, did I really need to post this! You don't became this ghetto, you were BORN this way.
It's because she's a black girl.
People over here don't use the negros.
This is the same reason why Beyoncé has more haters and less stans than she should have.
Correction: Europe doesn't use black R&B stars. It's not a genre Europeans can relate to easily so naturally it won't sell well there. However, Whitney and Rihanna (who are black POP stars) have/had massive success in Europe.
Thats a lie. Europe has always been accepting of Black Pop stars. More accepting than the US even.
When, where? i think Europeans don't make that much difference between black and white. It is just the black culture, the way we dance, the way we sing that doesn't connect with them. So we are overlooked. but when a black singer is "white" enough for them they follow. I'm not talking about the skin here.

Janet was just local, sadly. She deserved better.
JANET WAS NOT LOCAL!!!!
She has MANY hits in Europe. She just hasn't toured there since 1998. How many times do we have to clarify this?
LOCAL US ARTIST do not sell out arenas in worldwide tours, have global number 1 hits, or have albums hit number 1 overseas.
Control really set Janet up for a different route than she went down. Her music is great, and I love it, but I wish she had pushed for international superstardom a little harder.
Speaking on Janet, it is a shame that she gets overlooked
& it's not just on this site.
The fact that Britney took Janet's schtick and went on to outsell her has always been weird to me.
& That's not shade to Britney.
Janet deserves more than what she's given at certain times.
But in the black community she can be seen as untouchable as her brother.
I'm glad she's improving her touring viability & is slowly starting to rebuild.
But it's sad to think that she might never reach her TRUE peak if she had kept her popularity at a constant rate without interruptions.

Don't forget Tiao Cruz & Flo-rida
I agree. I mean the Uk has many locally succesful black artists like Alexandra, Chipmunk, Tynchy Stryder ect ect.

Sugar, you may be right actually. Anyways, this was not my battle. I was trying to explain why Janet didn't get the recognition she deserved worldwide compared to some questionable white chicks I won't mention. The color of her skin explains it mostly to me.

If the constant career interruptions that plagued her from the late 90s on hadn't occurred, I can only imagine where she'd be right now.

Janet was named #2 as billboards artist of the decade in the 90's with only two albums and one greatest hits..Just imagine if she released at least two more albums during that decade. Janet was never an attention ***** and always took breaks between albums to live her life. She's always been a private person and did what she wanted.

I don't know why this made me laugh so hard.
But anyway, yeah. As long as you're releasing pop music, Europe could really give a **** less what your race is.
