If you ask me, every argument in this debate is nonsensical and dumb. Yes, even the vegan ones. Everyone needs to cool their tempers about eating/not eating meat.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a civilized debate about whether it's right to eat meat (although it feels like we've done this before )

if they have to die for us to live.. that's just the way it works... You don't see stopping lions from eating what they do... it's natural.

The argument based on health is hardly nonsensical and dumb and should quickly dampen anybody's love for meat if they care about enjoying a long and healthy life. I'm far from perfect in that regard and probably eat too much meat myself, but it's foolish to gloss over the fact that vegetarianism soundly trumps meat-eating.

I tried dieting and it almost killed me. Imagine a diet without meat.
Some people can do it, but y'all be hypocritical if you think that's going to be easy for everyone. To be a vegetarian means you also need MONEY and not people have the dough for it.

.
It costs $1.99 for a burger & $12.99 for a salad.
Go figure.

But meat isn't unhealthy.

I LOVE veggies but I also love meat. I don't care if you don't like meat as long as you don't tell me what to eat...
people should stop complaining about what others eat.

Some meat every now and then isn't unhealthy but an overconsumption of meat is very unhealthy.
For me, cutting out meat was because of fear.

I was a vegetarian for three years and I started to get really sick, and fatigued all the time. So, I slowly started to eat meat again and I have added muscle to my bones & have a lot more energy. I mostly only eat chicken and fish now, but crave a burger once in a while!

I think an over-consumption of anything is unhealthy.
It's really not what people eat, but the portions they eat it in. Meat really has nothing to do with it.

I didn't mean this ATRL debate...I meant the entire debate in general.

Aren't humans supposed to be the most evolved and civilized species? But now you do things just because they're natural?
Again, not condemning people that eat meat. Just calling out the reasons people are citing.

I LOVE Meat.
C'mon, now. If those damn dirty animals were in our position, they wouldn't hesitate to eat us. They certainly don't hesitate to eat the animals they prey on. Eating meat is natural. Living things consume other living things all the time.

I'm confused. Fear of what? You said it's strictly for health reasons.

I honestly have no idea why I wrote "every." I must be tired from last night. I meant to say most, and that I can count the logical reasons for both sides on one hand.
Don't call me out for my blonde roots showing when I'm tired

That's true. Instead of totally cutting out meat, what people need to do is stop shoving burgers, pizza, oily chips, fries, and all that other mess down their throats, and get into yoga, a gym, a spinning class, and supplement the physical exercise with some sort of diet. Instead of the Big Mac, pick up an apple.

In moderation it isn't. It's stupid to go around fear-mongering that if you've ever had a strip of bacon you and all your family will die before age 30, it's perfectly possible to eat a reasonable amount of meat and still live a healthy lifestyle but excessive meat consumption is not good especially if combined with poor exercise regimes, excessive drinking etc. which it often is (this much is common sense though).

Fear of gaining excess weight, not living a longer life, fear of future health problems arising and etc;
