Ah well, I'll throw this into the mix cuz I stan for Shania as well. Amazing how many albums could be sold 10+ years ago... Shania, Celine, whoever else (don't really remember, haha), but Shania sold.. what... 38 million of "Come On over" that released in 1997.... by 2000 or something?! Everyone and their dog had Shania's CD. back then it was "I like that one or 2 songs, so I'll buy the whole album to get these songs."... cd singles were limited... from my understanding... but now a days... if you want a song, buy that one song... or.. get it illegally.

In the average person's mind, 2 million for Katy's second album is AMAZEBALLS. It's some of the ones that stan for others that seem to have the issue and bring her down. I've read the comments on here... including one about not even liking Katy but that this is awesome!

I disagree. If an album sold 4 million albums (btw it'll prob reach 5m by the end of its run) then it's successful no matter how the singles performed. So to me:

Selling a lot of albums =/= album artist

A singles artist to me would be someone like Flo Rida who can get number 1's easily but can't even go gold.
