Oh, I totally left the question unanswered.

No, it shouldn't be a requirement seeming as how some of my favorite members here aren't very "proficient" in basic English and it also makes for great entertainment. It is rather annoying,though, when a member claims to "drag" when they can't construct a correct sentence.

To be honest, I think that the lack of respect that comes with being "illiterate" on ATRL is enough of a consequence.

True. Though, I'm just not here for people who honestly can't construct a proper sentence, use proper punctuation, or just can't type to save their lives.

I like the mix of international perspectives and tastes. I've been exposed me up to some interesting new songs and artists because of it. I think some sort of English proficiency requirement would probably cut down on that diversity a lot.

There's only one member on here that's "illiterate" (I don't really think that term is appropriate for this, but whatever) and has any respect. That in itself speaks volumes.
