Gerls, educate yourselves. These three albums, together, ignited the electropop movement that has come to define pop music of the late 00s and early 10s.
These albums remain among the most influential of the 00s. They represent a turning point in pop.
I was actually expecting California Gurls to be all over the radio again this Summer and get a big iTunes boost...so you may have a point. I haven't really heard it in a looong time. Though that may be because radio can only play so much KP and her recent singles are on heavy rotation on every station.
CG is such a boring, bland, forgettable song. There is no reason for radio stations to play it a summer later instead of the newer summer hits. I truly believe it's already completely forgotten.
Let me see these demographics, because I cant name a single Beatle song and im pretty sure no one of (R&B) history could sing one in full. And I listen to other music, they just have never done it for me, and a lot of people feel that way. Millions of people are fans of them, but the same could be said for Avril Lavigne who has a best selling album that no one even remembers today. MJ is like the only person I can think of who has multiple GLOBAL signature song that EVERYONE of any race will know. Oh and Whitney has two as well. (I Have Nothing and I Will Always Love You) give me more if you got them.
Sats, this is grossly speculative and invalid. Nobody has definitive data on the racial or global reaches of MJ or the Beatles, so there's no point arguing about it.

Yeah...recurrent play isn't exactly helped when each one of your singles makes a new spin records...and then the proceeding one breaks it.

Sk8ter boi came on in a club i was at and everyone knew it, it's pretty memorable .
But cmon you must know a Beatles song and i'm pretty sure alot of them could sing one in full, it wasn't only white people that liked them
You & I is coming to be clung to by HAC and AC stations for years and years.
But MusicTalker had a precient observation in the flop thread inspired by this one. California Gurls is already aging poorly. This summer would have most likely seen a rebound for CG because of the summer and the 69 cent discount...but it never passed HNC and now is actually lower than HNC.

I know two things:
1. Everyone and their mama knows the chorus to Thriller.
2. Not everyone and their mama can sing a Beatles song.

Girl, you're reaching right there.
No one statement can be made to apply to the whole world, so this whole thread is extraordinarily speculative.
The albums are far from over, It took 3 tries before Irreplaceable took over the charts. Don't count either one of them out just yet.
Both Beyonce and Gaga are going to have to find a way to keep their albums alive until the holidays. By then, BTW will have sold at least 5M and 4 will have sold at least 2M...if they can keep some fire in them until November, they'll be fine. It won't be easy. Lack of huge singles are making them sink...

FSLS is so timeless. It still feels new. Make more music Justin.

I'm actually pretty sure you know at least 5 beatles songs. Did you forget that their Greatest Hits which was just released in 2000 was the best selling album worlwide of the last decade?
If I don't reacll any movies from the 60's even the classic ones then I'm IGNORANT in term of cinema
That I agree with . Ignorance within that field but not common knowledge to pop culture in general.
For example The velved underground and the beatles are both incredibly influential, highly-revered bands but I wouldn't blame anyone for not knowing whether the former exists or not .
