I was talking about worldwide anyways. P!nk, Bey, and Taylor have consistently scored 6-7 million-selling albums in the last five years. Katy, Ke$ha, Rihanna, and nowadays Britney seem to stall out around 3 million.

You cannot compare inferior artists like Katy, Kesha and Rihanna to Britney

Only pop plays better, while several other stations give spins to Rihanna/Katy/Kesha, no wonder Britney never had a Hot 100 airplay #1 or can't have several weeks at #1 on Hot 100... She only have sales on her side to chart on Hot 100....

And, Katy/Rihanna/Kesha stall at 3 million with 3 times or more as much promo as Britney

Britney's singles hit #1 or #3 because of their huge first week digital sales. Britney usually peaks on the Hot 100 Airplay with 70m+ audience, while Katy can reach up to 140m-150m, as well as people like Beyonce and Rihanna. That's how the "half of airplay" can be made.

As far as worldwide, you're comparing those sales to the people who do 30x the promotion. I know that's the usual excuse, but until Britney does the promo those girls do and still push the same units, then it makes. Also Circus has done about 3.7 million.

Britney has had ten years in the game but can't seem to get a #1 album there are pull an album as successful as GGGB:R since Rihanna has been around.
Actually I'm not sure, has Britney ever had an album as successful as GGGB in the UK?

Those singles peaked high due to high digital sales. I do not remember the last time Britney had a radio hit with over 80 AI.

But let's break it down, anyway. Rihanna has one #1 album in the UK. You're speaking as if she has several against Britney, when she doesn't. As Rihanna's failure to get a #1 in the US, Jive plans her releases around huge UK Acts / Greatest Hits. The exception was In The Zone, which did extremely well with even peaking at #13. Even though she hasn't had a #1 album, she was still one of the biggest selling artists in the UK for last decade.

Secondly, do you need to be reminded Good Girl Gone Bad had a re-release, plus 7 singles? The album was only 2x Platinum before the re-release, while Britney's first two albums have both went 3x Platinum. I guarantee if they had re-releases with an extra 4 singles they'd also go 5x platinum and beyond.

As far as the success of the eras go, she's has NEVER had an era to be any more successful than Britney. Good Girl Gone Bad had a one Platinum certification, one Gold cert, and two Silver certifications. Before GGGB she was selling close to nothing, and even afterward "RR" and "Rude Boy" only sold Silver & Gold.

Britney's greatest certification is 2x Platinum with "BOMT", which Rihanna's is Platinum. The only HUGE single was "Umbrella", going #1 with Take A bow also going #1 with the re-release. That can be compared to In the Zone which had "MATM" (#2) and "Toxic"/"Everytime" both hit #1. Their certifications were equal to those of GGGB, sans having a Platinum certification.

So the only thing Rihanna has on Britney in the UK is a #1 album. Other than that, their successes are near equal, with Britney having an edge due to being here longer and clearly being a greater influence because she's BRITNEY.

LMFAO, and you keep going. Her first two albums are 3x Platinum. Every album after that has gone Platinum except Blackout (Gold), and even that's great considering the mess she was. The sales are consistent, they haven't dropped off since 2000. So the sales aren't pitiful because she's always sold the same. Anything else?

Yes, I know about the differences in promo. It still doesn't make my statement incorrect though about Britney's more recent album sales. Maybe if she'd done 30x more promo she would have sold better, but that's purely hypothetical. She's Britney Spears--a household name unlike Katy and Ke$ha, and there was plenty of hype surrounding Circus especially during its release.

And in terms of airplay, I can't vouge for numbers, but I do know "Womanizer" and "Circus" were in very heavy rotation on KIIS FM two years ago just as much as IKAG and HNC were.

Her initial sales are front-loaded and based off the release hype, which is exactly why it sold 1.5 million in it's first 2 1/2 months of release. That's more than the total sales of those you're comparing her to who are in the media with their music all year long promoting/performing. The lack of promotion and marketing afterward is what killed it.

And yes, "Womanizer" & "Circus" were in huge rotation. Both pop #1s. But, in overall airplay they don't touch the numbers and exposure that the likes of some of her peers get.

Exactly, I think Womanizer and Circus never went #1 on overall airplay, while songs like Teenage Dream or Rude Boy had huge airplay overall
