As I said, he had his chance after the convention to stay on message, but he ruined it. The candidates will take a step back this month, and Hillary is going in this drought period likable and the favorite choice.
Trump has 3 weeks in Sept. to turn it around. We'll see. But if not, it's over because the debates and early voting will start shortly after.
I wouldn't be too concerned with Hillary's favorability numbers.
As Senator and SoS she entered with low numbers and left with excellent ones. People just seem to forget how good she is at what she does in between.
I suppose part of it is that she is so good at making positive change that the GOP fears her to the point that they have to inflate the smallest issue she is even somewhat tangentially a part of into a controversy.

She has to really be one of the best presidents. I'm not here for her name and legacy being tarnished.
The worse Trump gets, the more the GOP suffer collectively. If things keep going the way they're going, they'll be slaughtered up and down the ballot nationwide in November.
Hillary needs to bring her A-game in the debates. Jill Stein needs to go away. And Gary needs those endorsements from Bush and Romney so he can take away votes from Trump in Arizona and Utah and maybe Georgia.
