And you said it yourself, ATRL stans sales so it is just the easiest thing to use as an arguing point.

No one on this thread denied that she was a legend. We simply said there's an area of the world where she isn't really known, unlike her peers, and so to say she outlasted them isn't necessarily true, especially when just like her, they have all been able to maintain some substantial level of success....and in more continents in the world.
She hasn't really outlasted any of her dead peers in anything but life span. Outlasting would mean their music and legacy faded into obscurity while hers didn't, but that hasn't happened at all. Example: Madonna has outlasted Cyndi Lauper. Madonna has outlasted Lauryn Hill. Both artists faded away, even if they still release music here and there. On the other hand, Whitney Houston debuted two years after Madonna, achieved astronomical success without even coming close to the size of Madonna's catalogue and died an untimely death. MJ and Prince had careers that spanned four decades or more. At their LOWEST, MJ, Whitney and Prince still had some form of high demand. MJ was about to embark on the world's biggest comeback, Whitney scored a #1 album and Prince was still selling out concerts.
So Madonna outlasting her peers in anything other than age/lifespan is a very false premise. What's ridiculous is that a certain group of people resorted to racist and offensive statements while trying to support said premise. So please, spare us.
