And in BW or BW2 (idek) Caitlin apparently said something like "I've been a Battle Castle leader, been an elite four member. Will I be champion somewhere next?" so there's a lot of speculation on that.

If they recycle Caitlin again. Not sure how I'd feel about that, very mixed feelings.

The only Dark type that has ever had even a passing connection with the moon is Darkrai, and it represents the literal absence of the moon in the sky via the new moon phase.

Additionally, Ghost is not at all far-fetched since many Ghost types can only be found during night time, and since Ghost can represent the "dark" qualities of lore surrounding the moon just as well as the Dark type.

Ok, I tried to make sense of the typings

This Pokémon was first seen in the trailer for Pokémon Sun & Moon and adorns the box art for the Pokémon Moon.
Since ancient times, Lunala has been honored as an emissary of the moon. It is referred to with reverence as "the beast that calls the moon." Lunala is constantly absorbing light and converting it into energy. With its wings spread to absorb the surrounding light and glittering like a crescent moon, it resembles a beautiful night sky.

The Moon isn't associated with only one of light/dark, but both. Making Lunala Ghost type lets them achieve this theme because of Ghost's association with both lightness and darkness.

Ghost & Darkness is obvious.

-Will-o'-the-wisps and Atmospheric ghost lights

Ghost can be traced to light/fire through the above phenomena

So Ghost makes sense, tbh! Lunala learning Will-o-Wisp would confirm my theory

As for Solgaleo.. the only connection I could make was that Steel is made by iron smelted in blast furnaces (= heat is associated with the sun) sooooo

I'm a bit late but a few things;

1. @ these pokemon having 4x weaknesses like priority moves don't exist at all
2. I wasn't expecting the steel type for Solgalea. It should've been Psychic/Fire if anything but oh well. Metagross better watch out.
3. The region looks fun and more interesting than the other previous one.
4. I'm really loving Lunala's design

As a star runs out of hydrogen atoms, it starts burning the heavier elements and creating even heavier elements from that, eventually creating metals like Iron before the star ultimately runs out of fuel. Since the Synchro evolutioncould be in the games i wonder how it is implemented.
Especially with customization is coming back making all those models for your Pokemon to fit your current outfit seems like unnecessary (and too much) work for GF.
Tbh the Pokmeon should just get a stat boost but not change aesthetically (if that's the case i have absolutely no problem with it....still want some Megas tho)
