It's because this new crop of popular musicians aren't real stars. They follow trends and release bare-minimum type of pop music. They have little to no impact outside of music unlike the last batch of megastars (Gaga, Katy, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Bieber, Adele, Taylor, etc).
