Because a lot of people own (expensive) headphones that they want to use on their phones that now they're worried they won't be able to. I mean, it doesn't take much thinking........
Alot of expensive headphones have removable/replaceable wires, so they could just make a wire that fits into the new iphone tho.
now every gay will use these headphones cuz there wont be alternatives. sad because they have HORRIBLE sound isolation. i swear if someone plays katy perry on full and i hear it in my ear drums im going to rip that ugly cord off. go away like a lightning

For watching movies and TV shows, the free Apple earbuds beat the beats any day.
That's because Beats headphones are incredibly poor quality. They just use built in EQ's to fool the listener into believing the sound quality is better. They're purely reliant on their branding and image.
3.5 jacks need to end at some point but maybe it's just too soon for people. Using the flash means it will take up less space inside your phone so it can be thinner and weigh less. Also, using flash means that your headphones will have more capabilities whatever more you need, I'm sure they'll have ideas.
