And yes casting is the issue, but when you have white people saying it isn't an issue things don't get fixed.
Also, I'm not gong to defer the blame from black folks. It's time that we stop agreeing to play slaves. Until we demand more respected, multidimensional roles they won't give them to us.

Most of Creed's buzz went to Stallone (which makes sense. Bigger name + bigger brand + face of series) I don't remember much about Concussion. At all. eElba definitely had buzz, but I think DTNetflix hurt him. Which is the last one again?
Notice that I'm not among the white people saying there aren't issues, jut that it's not with the nomination process.

That is what I want as well. Hollywood has got to do better. TV seems to be evolving, but film needs to get better.

I think Chi-Raq would've been a contender and either Angela Bassett or Jennifer Hudson could've got nominations if the movie was released early and had time to gain enough momentum. It was a Spike Lee movie after all. It all depends on campaigning people you need to understand that, otherwise what you say seems laughable at best.

TV is slowly but surely evolving, tho it's not quite there yet. Film is doing it too (a decade ago, Finn from the new Star Wars WOULD be white, and Rey would probably be a dude, and Po would be white), but at a much slower pace. And Bait-ey films are very resistant

Idris no nomination had more to do with the Oscars not wanting to nominate a Netflix film even though it was put out in theaters beforehand. It was an amazing film though.

I'm guessing the movie wasn't particularly bait-ey either. People forget how important that is.

Trying to put all of the blame on CASTING is pathetic.
They don't nominate minorities when they play strong deserving roles.
They nominate them in films where they play broken, corrupt or marginalised characters.
They nominate them when they star in a film which plays to white guilt by having some 'white saviour' come through and emancipates the poor blacks.
White actors and actresses can have many mediocre roles, black actors do not have those opportunities.
If white people continue to get nominations for mediocrity, which they often do, then a higher number of black roles is not going to change the nominations.

But again, this is Disney studio, which has been the only studio and brand to be diverse from corporate to TV to Film.

How many times are black people cast in these roles though? (Also, Oscars like those "ZOMG I'M SO BROKEN!" roles thus why they go googly eyed over sick people movies) As has been said, you CAN'T nominate what isn't present and what isn't given media coverage
There are always a few, but for the most part, the roles you get upset about are the roles casting puts them in

It was very bait-ey, but the filming industry doesn't want to give Netflix and streaming services credibilty. They think Netflix is taking business away from them as well.

No, let's.
Denzel Washington
1989 Oscars - Glory (Civil war era film which one of the most known scenes he gets whipped)
2002 Oscars Training Day (Dirty cop)
Monique
2010 Oscars - Precious (Abusive mother)
Octavia Spencer
2012 Oscars - The Help (Maid)
Not to mention the huge time gaps between wins for POC.
Asians have also been snubbed, even more so.

I think I'm miscommunicating my point. I'm not saying they never are or that they don't deserve those roles or that black people (and other minorities who are like unicorns!) have never been snubbed, but I'm saying Hollywood keeps them away from the "bait-ey" roles, like Julianne Moore in Still Alice. Those are the roles that get nominated, and Hollywood likes to keep them very, VERY white.

And then they get the God Chris Rock to host so we'll tune in. I hope he acts a fool.

This! if anything it's Hollywood's fault, not the academy's.
