If I had a clue where to start for my "get big" phase I'd be on that buzz.

I hope I can check out a gym next week. I've never been to a gym here so I'm kinda nervous but I'm really motivated to finally get fit this year after last year didn't work.

I did all my research before getting into it. Took a lot of effort, but it's so simple, homestly. I could help you if you'd like.

Do any of you guys use Bodybuilding.com and its body space app?
Its so efficient with tracking workouts and progress!
If anyone is looking for a way to take their workouts to the next level I'd suggest the Arnold Blueprint to Mass its really been kicking my ass recently.
6 days a week and LONG workouts. I've gone from like 180-194 in the past two months though!

It might be a wasted effort, but were the first steps you made to leaving "normal workouts" and progressing onto something legitimately muscle building?

Did my first workout (in a very long time) yesterday.
I'm taking a more lackadaisical approach this time. I think before when I go in with specific programs and weight goals it takes away from the fun that the gym should be and makes it more of a task or a job and I don't want the gym to be like that.
So yesterday, I decided to do legs and I ended up squatting about 6 sets before I moved onto the leg machines and today my legs are SORE. It feels good!

I got Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength for Christmas. He's a weightlifting coach of 30+ years and he goes through each of the main barbell exercises and breaks down why you should do them a certain way.
There are so many things I'm doing wrong w/ my squats and deadlifts.

Learn how to squat, deadlift, and bench press correctly and prioritize an exercise plan around those three. Don't waste your time on the machines.
You'll need to start eating more as well.

I do! I ****ing love it. I used to track everything by hand on the Notes App
I went from using Labradas Lean program to the Arnorld one you mentioned. I jumped from 139 to 155, and bulking.

I just wanted to be more muscular. It was pretty simple stepping into it, with the right knowledge. I'd suggest starting a beginners program on one of Bodybuildings free programs, so you can get into lifting free weights, learning proper form etc and advance from there into intermediate, advanced programs. That's what I did. Everything is laid out for you; what excercise to do, how to do and how many sets. And like the other user mentioned, you'll have to eat more, so it's up to you whether to do it the dirty or clean way (eat whatever as long as it's a lot, or stick to eating a set amount of macros, and likely tracking calories).

For shoes, trainers/sneakers that are clean and you use exclusively indoors. I use running shoes, but depending on what kind of workouts you will be doing, you can get different kinds of gym shoes.
For clothes, it mostly depends on your preference. Obviously it should be suitable for working out, so no jeans etc, but that's about it. Some prefer tight clothing, other wear track pants, long sleeves or short sleeves, it's pretty much up to you. Just make sure your torso is covered.

Thanks!
So if I entered to the gym for the first time to work out, do I jump on any machine? How does the whole process work?

If you've never been to the gym before, I would mention it when you sign up. Most gyms offer a free induction session with a trainer, who will show you around the gym, explain the different machines and maybe even talk to you about your goals/plans and help you put together a training programme.
