"I've heard white gay men joking about having a 'strong black woman' inside of them. It's a cultural stereotype that implies [black women] have no problems and is reductive about our experience," explains Ava Vidal, a British TV stand-up comic and writer. "There's a lot of this stuff—mimicking Ebonics, joking about their 'weaves'—not realizing it dehumanizes us. It's not flattering. They want all the fun parts of our culture without experiencing any downsides."
What happens when she challenges these gay men? "They turn nasty and almost bully you about it. These white men are not listening to black women. How many times do they have to be told before they listen?"

ugh, i'm not saying misogyny in the gay community isn't real, but it's parts like this that make it so hard for me to take these kinds of articles seriously. yeah, gay men joking about weaves is really hurting you SO much. it's just destroying your entire life. i'm totally crying for you. no, really.
maybe the reason they're "not listening" is because your argument is stupid. but apparently telling them over and over again will somehow convince them. you go ahead and do that, i guess.
there's a lot of problems in the gay community, including with misogyny, but this is not one of them. (really, i think the biggest one is the way a lot of gay men will shame women for their bodies - not as in their vaginas, but as in calling them fat or ugly or things like that. that's a much bigger problem that isn't even addressed here)
