The onomatopoeic anthem "Boom Clap" was released as the lead single of Sucker and also featured on the soundtrack of the blockbuster film, The Fault In Our Stars. It became as successful as it was acclaimed, landing in the top 10 of both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll. The video is the typical soundtrack video with clips of Charli roaming Amsterdam interspersed with clips of the film, which is like, kids dying of cancer. So, it's a little ill-fitting for ths song. The alternate video with Charli wandering around Tokyo is better. It's also where another one of my iconic avis is from!
Anyway, I love the song. It's a little slice of pop perfection. When that lil synth kicks in after the first chorus > It's so short though, always over too soon. Regardless, it's probably the best top 10 hit of 2014.
Oh yeah, I nearly forgot. Charlotte is out now, Rest in Peace.
I agree. How Many Times harnesses the power of Janet incredibly well. It's impossibly smooth and endlessly listenable. It's just that awful rap verse that wrecks it.
Her hottest yet, Bet couldn't dream of it. I usually just skip the rap.
Never really understood why people act like Love Me Harder is anything other than basic but it's gonna win now and it'll be justice for the horrible taste in here.
The last moment of perfection before Charli became completely inconsistent. I kind of blame it for ruining Sucker (which I love regardless) though; we were gonna get either a badass punk record or a cure electronic one and Boom Clap made her aim for the middle, and miss entirely.
