But the only good thing in Maleficent were Angelina herself. Every critic was dragging the movie for it's weak writing yet praising Angelina. Why would movie with a weak storyline would attract people to watch? Disney proved that it's logo is not enough for their movie to smash (John Carter and George Clooney's movie). Was that blonde girl the main reason Maleficent grossed 700+ mil?
The way Janet just threw some slow random R&B song on iTunes and already outpeaked Madonna after the latter hooked up with all the hot producers and popstars and spent months hyping the era with countless magazine covers and big promo slots and too many stunts to list
She even refused to promote it at the local mess that is BET

In fairness though people don't go to a Disney film for good writing. Maleficent had a HUGE promo budget and was based off a Disney classic (unlike Tomorrowland), but good for Mangelina

Films and music are different. There's a difference between working with the producers you know well and trust and have had success with repeatedly, and only being able to have success when Disney and Dreamworks their huge promo budgets are behind you

Shakira - her last album sold 3x less than ARTPOP. Also, I live in California (like, one of the most important states in the most important country on Earth) and not even the Mexicans use her.
