You all can write amazing, meaningful lyrics, but there's a reason why certain songs are on the radio and certain others are not. Every single hit song, even the most lyrically stupid, have perfect, or at least close to perfect meter. That's the only way that lyrics sound good sadly. Technique is boring, but it matters.
Besides, there's no point in critiquing the actual content, that's personal. I've never told anybody "why did you make a sex song and not a song about death?" or "why did you make a fun song instead of Take Me To Church 2.0?" I can't help you choose your topics. So, all that's left to criticize is how you executed the concept you picked. And technique is like 50% of that, the other 50 being vocabulary and general appeal (originality, vibe etc)
