I agree with this wholeheartedly, in 25 years, everything she did is nothing new, just radio friendly music to get quick hits

Just because teens do not remember OSD doesn't mean Mariah is not memorable. LOL. One sweet day doesn't have timelessness to it the way her other big hits were, but it certainly has a place in many people's hearts.

All the posts in here and not one person has mentioned recurrent airplay?

Like, the radio has to play your old songs for the new generation to know them; otherwise they will only hear older music from their parents or by actively seeking it out. I don't have any actual numbers, so someone feel free to provide them... but I rarely hear any of Mariah's 90s hits on the radio. Off the top of my head, I've only heard Fantasy and Always Be My Baby within the last few months.

It's not really surprising that most teens would only recognize her 2000s material + AIWFC.

Mariah is memorable, this song isn't. I never heard of it, but obviously Mariah has huge songs that anyone would know, i.e., Hero

Not when your fave would be nothing without her producers, songwriters and creative team who basically made her. When will your fave write a Christmas classic?

MARIAH has been in the game for 25 years! The fact that they are playing her 2000s material, songs from 10 years ago, is incredible! Songs from the 90s being played like ABMB, AIWFCIY and Fantasy shows the wealth of her discography.

And she's still in the game. Her new songs are also getting airplay.

I dont get the purpose of this thread. It's like going into Michael or Whitney's discography, taking out one single song and asking if it is remembered by a select few teenagers. Mess at this trolling.

I'm not sure, maybe due to radio not playing her songs that much anymore?

I'm not a teen but I've never listened to any of her songs (complete) I have no idea what OSD or AIWFCIY sound like.

In my defense I think she was never that big in my country and me getting into music until 2010 didn't help either.

The only artist that I've listened to that debuted before Britney Spears, Christina and Beyoncé is Madonna.

 I've never heard Hero

Also One Sweet Day spent 16 weeks at #1 (a record) so you'd assume people would know it

What more diversity do you need from her though? She started out in adult contemporary (Mariah Carey, Emotions), created the best-selling holiday music of all time (Merry Christmas), then ventured into pop and Disney balladry (Music box), then pop-urban (Daydream), r&b (Butterfly), urban/r&b (Rainbow), 80s (Glitter), r&b/ traditional r&b (TEOM), throwback r&b (Elusive Chanteuse). Just look at how differently her songwriting skills are in each genre she tried in. She likes to repeat a lot of her themes but that's because she's the songwriter in all of her songs except for her covers. LOL.

You would assume it from people who live through those 16 weeks, and not people who were still fetuses during those 16 weeks

Videos like this piss me off.
They make teenagers look bad.
Just because these teenagers don't know some songs, doesn't mean all of them are uninformed.
Bye.

 OSD is a snooze fest.

She has many better ballad that stood the test of time way better than that song.
