I just hope the other judges bump me up a bit in their rankings to help balance out Cupid's racism impossible standards

Same. I had my first e-girlfriend when I was 13.

When I'd first heard the song, I instantly fell in love with it. It'd run through my mind even when I wasn't listening to it, and I thought it was the catchiest thing in the world. Ever since then, I've wanted to be able to write something that catchy and enjoyable. That might not make it seem like a good reason, but since a lot of the songs I write are catchy and upbeat for that reason, and songwriting has become a big part of my life, that's how it inspired me.
Also, I was contemplating doing "Euphoria" by Loreen, but I just felt like if I did, either one of the judges on the panel would be like "You said in your Musicality challenge entry in Top Member that "Boy Like You" was your favorite song ever. Why did you not choose that?", or one of the contestants would. I didn't want to get clocked like that, either, so I decided to work with what I got.
I do consider "Boy Like You" my favorite song of all time, but I just knew it wouldn't be as easy to explain why as something like "Euphoria" would be.
I'm glad you agree! It always bothers me when people say music has no meaning anymore. I've always believed it's up to the person listening to decide what a song means to them, regardless of what the intended meaning of the song is supposed to be. It should be the same for any art form, really.
My former favorite song of all time, "Never Leave You (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)" is...honestly just as bad. She really couldn't sing for **** and there's an infinite amount of love songs out there with similar themes. Also the instrumental is basic. I guess I just never attached myself to ballads like most people.
P.S. I haven't used that last.fm in a while, but I linked it just in case someone was to click the last.fm link in my sig and say "You don't even listen to your ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG?" because by that logic, my all-time favorite song would be "Good-night Kiss" by Jun Hyosung, and it wasn't even my favorite song last year.
P.P.S No.
Like-wise for Gaga.
Anyway, I didn't want to write a whole auto-biography, but I'd already explained myself in Cupid's post. However, I feel like that's TL;DR so...oh well.
Like I said for H-I-M, I didn't want to break the ~1 paragraph rule. I'd explained it more when responding to Cupid, but the challenge is over now so no point really.
And yeah, I actually hate the "official" version of "Boy Like You". Charlee butchered that song.

How did this turn out to be longer than your entry

Okay but was no one else slayed by Blue's entry? Serving double take realness by choosing Super Bass but hitting you with that deep in the collapse.

If my entry was this length, everyone would be making fun of me for writing an autobiography for an entry.

I will not take any entry involving a Nicki song seriously. Unless it's Automatic.
I can't control the way I'm moving my hips
Bet you never ever seen it like this
I'm a monster on the floor I can't quit
No no it's automatic, it's automatic
Eh eh eh eh eh eh
It's automatic
Eh eh eh eh eh eh
It's automatic

Like I said previously I was looking for the personal experiences and the meaning rather than actual talk of the song.
But all judges are different, it's a good thing that we all look for and judge different things, otherwise we would all have the same rankings.

Yeah, I get that. OFC you're not supposed to judge the songs, but you can still judge objectively how well/thoroughly/convincingly the contestant has reasoned their liking for the song. For a song to be your favorite of all time, I'd argue you have to like the song a whole lot, not just have a personal connection to it.
I don't mean to sound like I'm telling you how you should judge us, but I just want to explain my view and where I'm coming from. Still, it's your opinions that matter in the end.

I feel like I did do that though. Explaining how you like the song falls under how well you relate to it for me. What I didn't like, was the "over selling" of the songs. I feel like they are two different things, you can tell me why you like the song, but it's not the same as talking about the aspects of the song and why it slays etc.

To me, "over selling" could be considered as a sign of little overexitement for your favorite song of all time. And if you're not going into the aspects of the song, the explanation may just come across a bit too generic and shallow.
I understand your judging now, so I guess we should leave it at that.

Yeah, there's a line between being critical and stanning though.
Like I said anyway, I think y'all will be surprised by my rankings, I'm honestly not biased.

Yeah, but this was supposed to show personality, not be a dull, formal review. We're on ATRL and the game is called Les ATRLers after all.
