#38 Paloma Faith - 30 Minute Love Affair

I love this song on a personal level. Thirty minutes with someone you truly love can be enough; but keeping it in your memories can be torture. Forever wondering if you could have had more or if leaving it where it was... Paloma's writing is exceptionally out of this world and emotionally brilliant.

#37 Chris Brown feat. Nicki Minaj - Love More

"He don't know me / But he settin' up to blow me, uh... / Yo come Polly / He wanna **** a bad dolly and pop Molly... / Or is it that you never ball John Salley"

Chris Brown tends to slay me once a year. In 2013, this slayage came in the form of a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, Love More. The beat to this song is incredibly addicting and Nicki delivers with her verse. I wish there was a bit more substance to this song, but Nicki and Chris both got a chance to shine on this track.

#36 Seahaven - Head In the Sand (Blinding Son)

"I guess you bit off a little more than you could chew. So you choked. / It's hard to swallow a mistake you can't undo. / Am I the only one or am I just one of many? / Because I need to know just how far you spread this suffering. / Bury your head, bury your head just like the child that you are, just like the child that you've always been. / But I'm sure your swollen chest will find way to boast of all the wrong you've done."

Most of ATRL will not know this song (or this band), but they're true artists you should check out. I discovered this song in a moment when I really needed something like it. Lyrically powerful with an instrumental to match, this track slayed me for weeks and reached the top 40 of my Top 100 of 2013.

#35 Balance and Composure - Alone For Now

"Is it this air that turns me cold? / This time of year I feel alone.... / These people keep to themselves / All living in their own hell / I need to get out of the place I'm in / Take me to a place where I don't know anybody / Leave me alone for now..."

Once again, I discovered this song when I needed something like this to slay me. (Pop music just doesn't cut it sometimes.) This song is raw and emotional, and it just strikes a chord with me- sometimes you just need to be alone. As an introvert, I tend to feel this way a lot.

Rihanna slayed in a completely different way with her 2012 album, Unapologetic. Leaving behind the bombastic pop jams we were all familiar with, Rihanna released Diamonds as her first single, followed by Stay. This heartfelt ballad, featuring Mikky Ekko, kept up the trend of artists releasing collaborations as singles, and the result is a magnificent display of emotion.

#33 A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera - Say Something

"Say something, I'm giving up on you / I'll be the one, if you want me to / Anywhere I would've followed you / Say something, I'm giving up on you"

Eclipsing Rihanna's heartfelt ballad was this tender, haunting ballad by A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera. Christina's voice absolutely shines on this track; toning it down suits her well. Say Something allowed Christina to be relevant even after her latest album Lotus undeservedly flopped. This song is a true gem.

#32 Will Young - Jealousy

Having feelings for someone can feel a lot like jealousy. Do you envy what they have? Do you envy who they are? Do you want to be more like them? Will Young perfectly captures that feeling with Jealousy. The instrumental is simple, yet powerful, and adds to the emotional impact of this song.

#31 Paramore - Still Into You

"I should be over all the butterflies / But I'm into you (I'm into you) / And baby even on our worst nights / I'm into you (I'm into you)"

Paramore truly delivered with this catchy song. When you've been with someone for long enough, part of you thinks the love could fade. Still Into You proves that, if the love is strong enough, it can last. The music video is extremely cute as well.
