This song has a bit of innocence I can't say exists in a lot of songs. I wish this song was a hit as well, the guitars and synths are so infectiously bubblegum that I can't believe this didn't catch on with pop radio audiences. I'm looking forward to Tegan and Sara's future releases after this smash that got away.

As promised, Lana features again on my Top 100 of 2013. I'm just a bit upset that Lana's mainstream relevance was prompted by a remix of one of her otherwise flawless songs, but I'm really glad that she finally got some mainstream recognition and a top ten hit. The future looks bright for Lana, and I am truly excited for her.

Thanks to iTunes' Free Single of the Week for turning me on to this song. Restless Heart is all about wanting love- but not letting someone take advantage of you. This song carries with it a powerful message that you should love and be loved. I think that's why I'm so fond it.

In what is perhaps another shockingly low placement of a 2013 smash hit song, Thrift Shop is actually quite a bop. Thrift Shop is annoying and overrated, yet somehow still enjoyable. It was an unepected hit, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis managed to defy the odds as independent artists and achieve success in 2013. I'm excited for their future material.

Check this song out if you've never heard it. I had to post a live performance of this song because it's the only clean version I can find; just do a quick search if you want to find the explicit studio version. This song captivated me the first time I heard it- the lyrics are captivatingly honest, and the guitar riffs are incredible.

I love Summertime Sadness! and I love dance/electronic music... but for the first time I think I prefer the original one

Marina should have smashed with this song; it's practically crafted for pop radio. The video is pure eye candy as well, so why this flopped is really beyond me. Since Charli made it into the mainstream, I still have hope for Marina. I hope Marina can still make it as a major pop girl in the industry.

Katy added another hit to her discography with this song. Roar is an inspirational anthem which you can't help but sing along to. It's amazing how Katy keeps outdoing herself; I can't wait to see what's next for her.
