Why is Taylor getting such good reviews with basically PRISM 2.0? It begs the question what if critics have a personal bias against Katy and don't concentrate on just the music when reviewing her?
"Full of expertly constructed, slightly neutered songs about heartbreak, 1989, which is to be released on Monday, doesn’t announce itself as oppositional. But there is an implicit enemy on this breezily effective album: the rest of mainstream pop, which 1989 has almost nothing in common with." - NY Times
I'm so proud of the Lord. I was expecting an album full of generic flawless bops but instead she took the risk of releasing some different pop songs with not generic productions and it paid off big time.
Taking care of all her chickens, horses, pigs and other farm animals in whatever redneck town she lives in doesn't count as "other things going on for her".
i was not aware that fatga was living with carrie, truly the mother teresa of country music, rescuing and taking care of the irrelevant cattle that were on their way to the slaughterhouse
Thug Cry is so underrated. The production is top notch, harps on pop songs are my weakness. I need more songs of that kind.
Thug Cry is fine all things considered but is super forgettable compared to everything else on the album. Mike Will is so useless now, just like I predicted after he attached himself to Miley

Critics these days are too influenced by the digital media propaganda. They bandwagon on everything that is trendy.
"The really striking thing about 1989 is how completely Taylor Swift dominates the album: Martin, Kurstin et al make umpteen highly polished pop records every year, but they’re seldom as clever or as sharp or as perfectly attuned as this, which suggests those qualities were brought to the project by the woman whose name is on the cover." - The Guardian
But any of the songs on 1989 could literally be on PRISM? If Katy recorded Shake It Off would it be 'clever or sharp or perfectly attuned'? It really makes no sense.
I'm listening to 1989 to sixth time now and yes I like it but I just can't properly enjoy it because it's such an obvious quality decline from Red (Rated R/LOUD tea)

Right. Unapologetic having the same MC score as Prism and ARTPOP epitomises this. If she wasn't getting all the bad press for collaborating/getting back with Chris it would've been in the high 70s
the thing is that people know that katy is gorgeous so they dismiss her music and just look at her boobs instead (they're great), but with ugly people like tayloose, they actually have to pay attention to the music, so they think she's musically superior when in reality she's just very unfortunate looking.
that's why beyonce is more acclaimed than britney for example. britney, at her peak, was drop dead gorgeous so people didn't pay attention to her music, while beyst is... beyst. you know?
