Tastes vary so we can agree to disagree on when television shows were ''better''. For me, I enjoy television now compared to 5 years ago.

The selection of good shows isn't improved just because you now watch one show on that channel and another one on the other. How is it a better selection if you actually used to have even more good shows with better quality just because they aired on less channels?

I compared it to 10 years ago, not 5! Of course tastes vary and you are allowed to find TV better nowadays but from an objective point of view the shows back then are generally received as the best of all time so my point about the golden age stands. I haven't actually brought my personal opinion into this discussion yet.
