The selection today isn't much bigger than it was 10 years ago even though you try to make it sound like that. We had more good shows in 2004 than in 2014. I was clearly stating respective seasons in my posts for shows that got worse later on - something that todays shows are just as vulnerable to.

How is it not? There are direct-to-Internet/Netflix shows that don't even air on network television that are just as popular (if not more) than television series. OITB and House of Cards for instance.
Tastes vary so we can agree to disagree on when television shows were ''better''. For me, I enjoy television now compared to 5 years ago.
