I really want to understand ATRL's logic with Taylor, but I just can't.
When she was winning country awards left and right and sneaking WANEGBT onto country radio, everyone moaned about how she "isn't even country!" But now that she has officially gone pop, 1989 is suddenly supposed to sell under 500k because "her country fan base" will abandon her, as if she had spent the last 8 years playing the banjo at the Grand Ole Opry every night and not being a pop star.
When most pop girls sell 1m in the US and another 1-2m WW they are "global," but when Taylor sells 2m outside the US she is "local" just because she also happens to kill it in the US. Makes no sense.
