Ick. Britney is like...the Vice Queen, ok? Let's get one thing straight, Britney does NOT share the title. Being second to Madonna is a really REALLY high honor though, so I mean that in all due respect. In order to be the queen, you actually have to take over the reigns of your career--the way Madonna has. Britney is still copping out to the pro songwriters and producers to do her grunt work after more than ten years in the biz. That's what makes "Circus" so ironic; she's not actually the one "call(ing) the shots." She'll never be the queen of pop for that reason, but she'll always be the top pop princess.
Case closed.

Britney co-wrote 4 songs in Circus, 8 in In The Zone and 3 in Blackout. She delivers a quality album after another. While many artists **** up musically, she's always consistent with her music. If you read her Rolling Stone interview or watch "Making The Circus Album" video, you'll realize that she's more in control of her work than you'd imagine. I have faith her next album will be her "Ray Of Light". She's the biggest thing in Pop music within the past 10 years and I'm sure Madge wouldn't mind Britney sharing the title with her.

Sucks doesn't it? The single is becoming big but still not reflecting album sales much. I mean it has been increasing in sales but not as much as single sales. They need more promo to help them out.

I have faith her next album will be her "Ray Of Light". She's the biggest thing in Pop music within the past 10 years and I'm sure Madge wouldn't mind Britney sharing the title with her.

Mazen, you are 90% of the reason why I still post about Britney. You always have the an excellent answer. I don't necessarily agree that she's queen though, because in most ways her success has been handed to her whereas Madonna had to struggle to get her foot in the door. Of course Britney works hard and of course she deserves success, but Madonna will always be the true triumph in the world of pop music. I won't begrudge Britney her success and I'm well-aware that she's eclipsed Madonna (in terms of popularity) for our generation but it's just the principle that Madonna is the queen because she was the underdog and she's managed to endure nearly 30 years with no signs of slowing down.

THREE-WAY RACE FOR #1 NEXT WEEK
Britney, Taylor and Beyonce in Lead, Musiq Soulchild, Common, Brandy Will Debut
December 10, 2008
And three divas shall lead them into the holiday sales season.
With no new heavy hitters on tap for next week’s chart, it looks to be a three-way race for #1, based on one-day reports from retailers still standing, from a trio of divas.
Britney Spears’ Jive/ZLG album Circus (this week’s chart-topper), Taylor Swift’s Big Machine disc Fearless and Beyonce’s Columbia release I Am… Sasha Fierce will battle it out for the top spot on next Tuesday’s HITS Top 50, all in the 175k range.
Atlantic’s Musiq Soulchild looks to be the top newcomer with an estimated total of 90-110k, followed by G.O.O.D. Music/Geffen’s Common (80-90k), Brandy’s first album for Epic (70-80k) and Capitol R&B group Avant (50-60k).
Releases still to come include A&M’s Keyshia Cole, Island’s Fall Out Boy, J/RMG’s Jamie Foxx and Jive/ZLG’s Anthony Hamilton.
Is it really only two weeks until Christmas?
The market was down 7% vs. last week, down 22% vs. the same week last year and still down 14% year to date. What are you waiting for? Start shopping, goddamnit.

HDD underestimated Britney 3 times last week.
I have a feeling Circus will be #1 next week also.
