This is what I mean. Some people who have no memory of the time look at the raw data and things seem one way, but you had to be there at the time to understand the dynamics of how certain platforms worked and how influential they could be.

I know 40 year old straight (not ATRL straight but actually straight) who enjoy bubblegum pop. Bouncy, uptempo, positive pop music has a wide audience.

I was just thinking about "Let's Get Down" being #1 for three months. Gross. Not to mention, they were all over B2K's ***** (who I hated). Bow Wow and B2K were never that big outside of that show (look at their sales and radio success!). They were basically the N'Sync and Backstreet Boys of 106. I hated stupid girls back then.
