Gaga does not need to do that to have success. I think a lot of us like to look past the positives from the ARTPOP era: one of the best being Applause.
Just look at its lyrics written out...
the fact that this song about ART in POP and Jeff Koons and other random stuff was able to perch itself on the Hot 100 top 10 for 14 weeks straight is a testament to Gaga's versatility. She does NOT need sex to sell her music. Applause, Edge of Glory, Born This Way and You & I proved that. There are very few pop girls (in my opinion; there are
none other than maybe Pink and Kelly) that can get by with selling themselves as sex objects. Applause just proved that Gaga can be fun and creative and people will be here for it.
