How are they ridiculous, when they're exactly what you're talking about? A kid being beat up for not being "normal", or not wearing "normal" clothes? Maybe if your kid is dark skinned, you should break out the bleach too? It's the same logic. Fix the thing the bullies are bullying them for, no?

To all of you who say that you wouldn't let him because he would get bullied, does this mean you wouldn't let him wear "goth" type clothing because he'd be more likely to be bullied? Also how about if they were gay or bi, would you not let them date someone of the same gender because it would make them an easier target?

Honestly yes and no. I would strongly advise my son not to wear a dress or a skirt in school because I know how a school environment can be. Anyone straying from the accepted norm, be that wearing "opposite gendered" clothing, fitting into the goth / scene / emo stereotype, or what have you is immediately a target for bullying, be it physically or mentally. However, were he to insist that it was what he was comfortable in, I would let him without hesitation.
