He'll just name examples of his Madonna hating friends as a "receipt".
But what about gaga for the next generation? The toddlers of today. You think they can name a gaga song in another 10 years? That'll be the question.

They were literally coined to define two specific people - Michael Jackson and Madonna. It's sort of like how Elvis Presley will always be "The King" - but the second you attach "of Pop" to the end of it, everyone knows you're talking about Michael Jackson.
Only Gaga stans see her as "The Queen of Pop" because they see this as the most prestigious Honorific Title in Music. If you asked anyone on the street "who is The Queen of Pop?" pretty much everyone will say "Madonna." Not because Madonna is their personal favourite pop star, but because the only reason the term "The Queen of Pop" exists is because it was invented as a way to describe her specifically.
I don't know why you would even want to hijack it anyway. Wouldn't you rather Gaga be something original? For example - "Mother Monster." Not only is that original, but it defines the maternal, loving relationship and connection she has with her fans (who she absolutely adores) and has affectionately nicknamed "monsters."
Even in 100 years time when all of our faves (and ourselves) have passed away, "The Queen of Pop" will always be Madonna.

Yes that's how the term originated and because of this it will always be associated with her. However, celebrity news/media outlets have used the term as an honorific title to describe female musicians other than Madonna since AT LEAST the mid 90's. the term started with Madonna but it doesn't belong to her like "King of Pop" and "The King" belong to MJ and Elvis. just my opinion

I don't think Madonna has cemented her legacy like MJ has. MJ is the "Batman" to Madonna's "Batgirl", meaning that she's replaceable.

Idk. I think she'll be really respected among her peers when it's all said and done. Even if she went on a huge decline, she did a lot in her peak, and I think people realize that.

But it does though. Literally all of our faves have affectionately been called "The Queen of Pop" by a media outlet at some point in time. That doesn't solidify it as a fact. So Entertainment Tonight or Extra called Lady Gaga "The Queen of Pop" a few times in 2009 and 2011, that doesn't make it a fact or mean it's widely-accepted by the general public. Just like how Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars have also been referred to as "The King of Pop" in recent years.
There's a different between "The Queen of Pop" as an adjective and "The Queen of Pop" as a noun. Using it as a noun, if you ask someone in the GP who it is, almost everyone will say Madonna.
If I was biased and was arguing who I wanted to be the Queen of Pop, like you are, I would be whipping out Rihanna's receipts. Like the fact that she's the most liked person on facebook, the most viewed on VEVO, has the most subscribers on VEVO and most VEVO certified videos, has 13 billboard Hot 100 #1's, is about to have twice as many albums as Gaga (after releasing her 8th), has more Grammys than Gaga, consistently reinvents herself and sticks to that look for her eras, hasn't had a peak followed by a decline, she's been in the industry for almost 10 years and she's still 2 years younger than Gaga. And then I would say "that's why the new Queen of Pop would probably be Rihanna." However, I'm removing my bias to recognise the fact that that will never happen. It is, and always will be, Madonna. There's nothing we can do to change that.

Never. That title will always belong to Madonna, and fans of other artists shouldn't try to claim it for their own faves.

Madonna will be replaced by only Rihanna, 20-30 years Rihanna will be at a Billion Records sold. She's only 26, has a good 14 years before they try to make her seem old but even then she will always be a Music/Sex/Fashion Icon.

It was only a curse because she couldn't live up to her own hype. With better music and a more agreeable image, she most certainly could have fared better. But she bought into her own hype machine and thought that she was the sole reason for her success, not the team surrounding her, and threw away everyone who helped her, from her choreographer/creative director to her manager.

Honestly, this whole "Queen of Pop" thing is so ridiculous. People act like its a factual title when its far from it. Yes, Madonna is largely seen as a pioneer for most female pop artists of today, but people get way too up in arms about this "title".

Queen of pop is used quite loose in the ATRL community. The Monsters are no exception to this. We get attacked quite often for it , for reasons idk. Threatened? Or some people just take the LM's TOO SERIOUSLY. Yes, she's currently struggling, but most of the biggest stars had to go through the same thing.
On topic, Gaga has the potential, but we all know she's not even trying to be the 'Queen of Pop'. It's just a bonus for her, if she gets called as such. It's the same as how she views her success.

Yeah but that article is from 2011. In 2011, I was stanning for her, hard, and I would have agreed with both you and the article. But that was 3 years ago, and a lot can change in 3 years. And when it comes to Gaga's career, a lot has changed. The first 3 years was a massive peak and a meteoric rise to fame. She certainly looked like she was shaping up to be the next Queen of Pop between 2008-11. But the past 3 years have seen a huge decline. That's half her career in the spotlight spent in decline.
And I don't think it's so much about labelling her the Queen of Pop, even if it is The Rolling Stones. Like I said before, every current pop girl has been labelled the Queen of Pop by some publication or media outlet at some point in their career. As I also said, there's a difference between "Queen of Pop" as an adjective (which it's being used in that article to describe Lady Gaga) and "Queen of Pop" as a noun - in which case, most people would hear and instantly say "Madonna" because that's a title that she holds and a title that was invented specifically for her.
