I think that's the point. Mystique is still Raven at this point and even though she can be bad-ass she isn't the ice cold assassin we see in the original movies. Jennifer gave the character a new layer of depth (I'm sure Rebecca would be capable of this as well given the chance).

Love Without Tragedy, No Love Allowed, and Lov7e Song pretty much obliterate anything from TTT.

TTT isn't bad but Una was a step forward Lyrically, Sonically, the songs have more content and depth. Besides RN isnt as bad as the low lights on TTT either.

She was much better in this new movie but in the first one, she was lost at sea.

I agree about Mystique/Raven though. In the original X-Men, Mystique is as cold blood as it gets and Rebecca was pitch perfect.
