I do think Katy is the worst performer of our generation but she does very well in other things like sales and longevity... Every artist lacks in at least one department, it's normal. Rih has her weaknesses, Bey has her weaknesses, Gaga has her weaknesses and yeh Katy has as well.

This is true to a certain point. No one is PERFECT. However there are some who are a lot closer than others and whose weaknesses are not as obvious nor great.

Also shows like American Idol, X Factor, the Voice etc. should start strengthening their brand by critiquing guest popstars' performances. That would be fun to watch. I doubt many people would want to perform though.
This is not suprising at all. The thing with Katy is that literally anyone could be Katy Perry if you know what I mean. Give all of her songs to Cassie or Keri Hilson, put them in candy dress, tell to act like you're 14 years old and not almost 30 and voila, there goes your next #1. I love her songs, but there's really no vocal talent or charisma behind it.

Tragic. It's sad because It's not like I hate Katy Perry. I just think she's given the wrong material, she needs something that showcases her voice. maybe some rock with electronic elements. Dr. Luke writing her trap songs is not helping in her artistic development. Then again whatever she puts out the public will eat up.

Katy has a blend of charisma and sex appeal without feeling like she takes herself too seriously that is unique to her and which has given her many fans. It's obvious not anyone could step into her candy-encrusted heels and pull off Teenage Dream like she did. However, her musical and visual output is as commercial as it gets and it's not hard to sell things that take very little risk.
Let's be honest... we could shade Katy all day long but it's quite pointless here because the song is just not made for live performances. Doesn't matter who's signing it imo. The song is just too slow, you can't clap or dance or anything. Weird.
