I'll assume a drink or 20 may be involved from Liam but how hard would it have been for him to do #shoutouttotheLGBTcommunity or #loveto1Dgays when this blew up?
Not that the original tweet was overly horrid or anything, although i see why it could be misconstruded as such. His tweets since, however, have been ridic and the fact that I'm siding with Tyler Oakley on anything is really flipping annoying.
And IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE WORD "SLAY" MEANS, 1D FANS, DON'T USE IT IN A SENTENCE!
He really didn't need to bring Tyler down. Tyler's reaction was normal and fair.
Liam, obviously tweeted out of ignorance but he shouldn't blame Tyler (who had the same reaction than all of us)
Yeah this is what I don't get. I read through Tyler's comments and they didn't seem to bad to warrant a ton of backlash.
The thing is.
1. Nobody in Europe knew who Duck was until they homophobia controversy arose.
2. He was very ambiguous with his 1st tweet, consiering point 1, I assumed it had something to do with the gay stuff too
3. When he was called out on it, he didn't deny it at first. He was very ambiguous again. Saying "i don't agree with all of their views". He aint slick. He should have specified. Sounded to me like he didn't want to say he supports gays but at the same time didn't want to admit it.
It's different because he has global platform and his fans are young and impressionable(some are probably young gays too). Anyways he should have stayed out of this mess and ignorance should never be tolerated.
The hypocrisy. If it's not OK for Liam to do it then it's not OK period.
Sorry gurl but the rest of the world isn't like your homeland of NIGERIA where homophobia is rampant and there are very harsh laws against it. Your profile says "liberal and progressive" and that might be true for your backwards country but the rest of the world isn't such with Colonial Britain ideals of the Victorian era.
When he said "family values" that's when he went wrong.
And his ignorance isn't an excuse. I know he has a very busy schedule but it's part of his job to be aware of current pop culture.

Plus, please get real, only like 15 countries in the world have gay marriage. About 70-75 countries in the world have anti-gay laws, some of them with the death penalty. You have an ethnocentric and very incomplete view of the world I'm afraid.
I heard that song on the way home, today. A Mr. Herbert-sized disaster.
Is homophobia the only "Ducky Dynasty" family value? Liam could have easily been referring
to the family values of hard work and dedication. But keep on finding a reason to
destroy this guy for liking a reality TV show. I guess everyone who loved
"Jersey Shore" is trash then, according to this off-the-wall logic.
...Vin
This is a complete straw man and you know it. Literally no one is "destroying him for liking a reality TV show."
"Family values" is more or less synonymous with "anti gay." I've literally never heard that term used outside of the context of preserving "traditional" (i.e. heterosexual) marriage. It's a euphemism that's been used by anti-gay marriage pundits for the last decade or so. That there was such a recent controversy surrounding this very show about homosexual people and gay marriage would indicate that Liam's tweet is probably not a coincidence.
