Like I said, this must be about reality tv stars like KK. Actors and singers make money off of gross. Albums, tours, merchandise, movie tickets, etc. Where else are they going to get money from. You can't really get mad that people pay for a product, and the money for that paid product goes back to them

You didn't lie though. I'm not sure why everyone is coming for you. I love my faves and even I'll admit they make more money than they should when compared with people who do jobs that actually help the world like firefighters, teachers, scholars, scientists, etc. It's not their fault of course, but it is still sad nonetheless. Teachers, who are literally educating our future generations get paid dust and deserve so much more.

We all agree, though, that the distribution of wealth is unfair.
And yes, we agree that Pop Stars and Athletes get paid too much even though they do gain big money back

But the revenue is very frequently in the millions and so their percentage is also a lot of money. That doesn't even take into account the pop stars that actually get writing credits or do production on their albums.
If this is such a problem in your opinion, then try to change the world's perception of what is worth spending money on. Try to convince society to spend it's money elsewhere. It is no fault of the celebrities, the labels, or anyone in that industry.

As I said earlier, I'm not blaming the artists themselves or their labels. If someone was paying me millions for singing with an auto-tuned voice and looking cute on a magazine, I would take that money, believe me.
I am obviously venting about the society.

Looking from that perspective, the average entertainer or athlete really isn't earning millions upon millions a year -- nowhere near close to that.
Just like for every very large group of middle class earning scientists, educators etc. there are people earning on the extreme end -- the person that came up with a certain drug that's worth hundreds of millions, the ivy league school president that's earning millions on the lecture circuit. There are extremely wealthy people in nearly every field imaginable and they're always just a microcosm and extreme exception. Every one can't and won't earn millions for what they do, even though it may seem unfair that someone can earn so much for something so relatively inconsequential.

Unless you want to pay more taxes so that doctors, scientists and firefighters earn more, stfu. Celebrities make a lot of money because there's just a lot of money to be made in that market. I hate it when people compare professions like this cause they are not the same at all.

No one is coming for anyone else.
They are simply explaining how they got those big money, but we all agree they're overpaid.

Definitely not. They EARN that money. They are literally reacting millions of people—they deserve the corresponding millions.
Teachers, firefighters, doctors, all great professions, but they don't have the same single reach that a popstar has.
Like, if a million people buy BEYONCÉ for 15.99, are you telling me that Beyoncé doesn't deserve that $15,990,000? She doesn't even GET all of that.

But what makes these pop stars overpaid? If people are paying for a product and they get money in return, how does that make them overpaid?

Girl, our tax dollars go to the celebs too. A large portion of our taxes go to the corporations. And the corporations are giving a lot of the money to the celebs for promo. It's just a more covert and indirect scheme.

I don't think a non-capitalist society could work. Well, not yet.

I call BS.
This comes down to the problem of our society and the culture of fandom. We allow them to overprice their product. We are the ones watching sh*t shows about Kardashians and Duck Dynasty...and the boring sports like Football.
How about we become fans of professions in science, education, law, etc.

So a $15.99 CD/DVD is overpriced? Even if BEYONCÉ was sold for 10 cents, it still would have made $100,000, far more than any teacher makes in a week. But how is that unfair? People payed for the product, millions of did. Compared to a teacher who's teaching about 150 kids. There's a clear difference.
And I'm just using Beyoncé because it's on my mind. People in the public eye just can't be compared to regular old jobs because regular old jobs don't reach the same amount of people that people in the public eye do.

How is this a justification though?
The scientist can come up with a cure for cancer and she'll still make less than P!nk made this year. Only because P!nk has fans and she made couple of cool hits?

Popstars have saved countless lifes with their music. They deserve it all.

All of this. Just remember that there are people making millions in every field. We just happen to only see the rich singers, actors, etc.

This is MUCH bigger problem than disproportionately paid vocations.
We're talking about a monetary society which is run by corporations/institutions. Where the 1% own the majority of wealth, control the economy and con society into playing along. Oil. Banks. War. Overpaid entertainers are the tip of the iceberg.

Don't come for our favorite ladies, come after football players. Now THAT's the big issue.
