I think what surprises me most about the overwhelming positive reception to this album is that this album isn't easy. Not in the pop sense and not even in context with her own work.

She could've easily just further mined the throwback sound that has worked so well for her in the past, or just jumped on the disco train that had some impact earlier this year. All that combined with her pipes and her name alone could've gotten her some solid sales and cemented her position as a modern R&B icon - but she went another route and utterly succeeded.

And all that without promo or warning or singles or anything. I'm still blown away with how well it's selling.

All of this I have been saying something similar to friends of mine this is very different and yet it worked in her favor.

Her endorsement of their product with her name is the return on their investment. And there will be more commercials as it is a long term deal.

But I agree that it's not likely she paid out of pocket considering this deal. Pepsi paid for those videos and she's a boss for that because that wipes out her overhead and aside from whatever goes to the label for distribution, she profits without having to pay back a **** load of advances from the label for studio time, videos and promotional expenses.

Everything you said is on point Beyonce has changed the game she proved you dont need to be chained down to your label. She got her deal with Pepsi and paid for all her **** and the label had no say in anything. Beyonce is the only person that could execute this and do it successfully these other girls will never.. .
