Let's add the fact that PRISM opened bigger than ARTPOP and was better received by critics.
So many things to ruminate on.

When it's only 3 points higher and ARTPOP already has 3 more reviews counted, lol. Both recieved bad reviews.
Idk, people is overreacting, I think that ARTPOP will rise soon when she does all the promo scheduled. It's going to underperform in numbers but it won't be a Bionic sized flop.
In approximately 5 years from now people will be like: "Remember the chick that wore a meat dress that we used to compare to the Legend Katy all the time, etc..." And then the laughter will proceed. Life is so good and fair sometimes.
Katy continues a stream of success and if anything has took huge leaps from era to era and shows no signs of weak demand.

PRISN will be such a long era. I can tell. After Unconditionally, I can see Ghost, Birthday, This is How We Do, & International Smile as hit singles. Then, there's always Dark Horse and Walking on Air as well.
Alot of hit potential on that album even worse if she makes a re-release
I think people tend to forget Gaga was the main reason why US radio started (re)appreciating dance-pop music again since 2009 and now that that ship has sailed, hers has aswell. If this 4th album would have been more like Do What U Want (the unpretentious combination of heavily R&B flavoured pop works really well on her) I think she would have done better. It's like she thought Born This Way was too risqué so she just went back to doing what she was circa 2009. Bad idea.
ARTPOP is not a step back to her radio friendly beginnings. If ARTPOP had another Poker Face she would not be in this situation. I think she was going for a mix of TFM and BTW, but she was held back by her inability to write catchy pop songs (which also plagued BTW), her crappy producers, and a lack of vision.
It's safe to say she owes her entire career to RedOne.
