I think that was it. I don't really remember; I never liked Gotye but I remember reading articles around the time of his SNL performance about all of the steps his label had taken to ensure sustained album sales and to make sure he had more hits in the US from the album. To build him into a name and avoid one-hit wonder status.
And I thought that was weird that they dropped everything after the success of that song after saying all of that. Gotye doesn't strike me as someone who can consistently get hits. It probably has something to do with his sonic approach and his age - he's about 33 years competing with a much younger crowd.

Oh, I always assumed they did take whatever steps and no one cared. I mean when someone has an unexpected hit like STIUTK or CMM, you can usually assume the worst.
