LOT is throwback-ish, yes, but that doesn't mean it's a generic song. To me, when you use generic you're comparing something that is generic right now, not in the past. It'd be like cooking a full meal like that of Versailles and serving it for dinner and calling it a generic fancy meal because if it was 18th century high-court France this meal would be normal.

love LOT's throwback vibe. It actually sounds refreshing to me time it was released considering that time was lorded by EDM and bublegum pop.
I really dont know how to define generic, but when i first heard Demi's HA and Selena's C&GI I screamed GENERIC.

We all know she's with Jay-Z, so this wedding scenes was a bit awkward to see. And then on top of that, the wedding gowns were really tacky in my opinion.

I understand what you mean. But the GP didn't seem to have any problems with it, it's the most successful single of '4'... Even though Love On Top has more longetivity. That song really should've been released as 1st or 2nd single!

I agree. Which brings me back to my point. "Roar" isn't generic since there's really no "IT" sound ruling right now. "Roar" is Pop music, catchy hook, easy to sing, easy on the ears and massive appeal.

I am glad some people enjoyed it. It just kind of makes me mad. For what it stands for as well as what it sounds/looks like. It should have been EOT's spot. It shouldn't have been a nervous regression into past territory (done worse) for the sake of pleasing people.

BTINH video could've been great. It was very sloppy. They could've been more creative with it.

At least the BTINH video was polished and it had a storyline (it was believable to me, because I can picture Beyoncé in all of that, in real life). The Party video was a mess. Loved the clothes and make-up... but it was so messy...

Would you guys want Bey to do a video with a storyline or spoken parts similar to like Telephone? Not in terms of creative content but in terms of narration or plot?

I didn't make it to the end of the Party's video the 1st time. The vid is awful, I'm sure it had no effect on the song.
I rather she just focuses on making a handful of good videos instead of a bunch of average videos.

@ 1D stealing the Nov. 25th date. I'd be so mad if she releases on that day and they block her from her potential record breaking #1 album

Yes! I'd love that. Something fresh from her.

I liked Party because like the song it was laidback, slightly 90s, fun, etc. It matched it well to me.

She did it with IIWAB, I still think it's a way better video than SL. Frankly I'll rank it in my top 3 from her.

You know I've been thinking something like this would happen to her but with another act, I kinda trust her to pull more numbers than 1D.
To be fair, Bey might the second most unaware pop girl, I don't even think she knows about that record.

I could be wrong though, how much did 1D's last album open with?
----------------------------
I also love 1+1 along with RTW but it was cheap too. That's one era where we definitely can't say our fave favors quality over quantity.

Anything could happen with a great lead single + promo but those boys did 540k 1st week last time and seeing how they're releasing during Black Friday week this time, you just never know. Their fans come out in bunches and give them those frontloaded 1st week sales.
And I think she does know... or I'm sure her label does. It was in that article that Billboard posted when 4 went #1. I'd hate to see her get blocked but I'd deal I guess.
