Completely possible, but there's no way Britney's perfumes (although incredibly successful) have made over $1.5Billion. Her net worth is only $100M
It's basically fact that Britney's perfume empire is over a billion dollars. Many reputable (unlike this) sources have reported it. And obviously, Britney doesn't get the entire billion in her bank account. Her team, the scientists, the perfume company, etc...gets a big cut of that check.
This is obviously just a "Gaga is doing well, maybe she'll top Britney in future' comment. Nothing serious.
We don't know any official numbers other than it was #1 everywhere upon release, so beyond that it's guesswork.
I wouldn't be surprised if she does build herself a perfume empire though, because I dare say she'll do men, women and unisex fragrances over the coming years. Or maybe, the FAME will do it largely on it's own if it proves a consistent seller.
Let me release my perfume tomorrow and make a website saying I've surpassed Britney's perfumes to use as a source since some see that as perfectly reliable information
They're definitely just basing this off the campaign run though so I myself don't see it likely. But who knows.
