It appears Prince died without leaving a will ... as a result his 6 siblings -- even the half brothers and sisters -- could split a fortune.

Multiple sources who have worked with Prince as recently as 2014 tell us ... he did not have a will. Of course it's possible in the last year or so Prince had a change of heart and drafted one, but all of our sources say based on his history with them that's highly unlikely.

If Prince did indeed die without a will, under Minnesota law his siblings -- the closest living relatives -- would share equally in his estate. Prince had 8 brothers and sisters, and only Tyka was a full sibling.

People have assumed Tyka -- who has taken the reins -- would get everything, but that's not the case. In Minnesota half siblings and full siblings are treated exactly the same when it comes to inheritance without a will ... they all share equally.

Prince's estate is worth somewhere south of $150 million.

Why would someone as rich and famous as that not make sure they have a will? This is just bizarre. Prince was a very sensible gentleman. Can't imagine he would be so careless.

How do they know he didn't make one last year? It's not like he wasn't visibly sick- he could've realized he was ill and made one.

It's like some people want to break up families and cause fights when they die.

He probably didn't think he was going to past as soon as he did, the man was perfectly fine 2/3 weeks ago, I doubt he had death on his mind unlike MJ who prepared for his death as early as 10 years prior to his passing. Not to mention he was really really really young most people don't write their wills until after retirement or old age.

The fact that this will probably be messy but even if all get an equal part, they'd get 25M+ each, I mean, HOW can you complain?

He could still have set up a trust, which essentially shields his wishes from public court compared to a will.

He had one of the best legal teams in music so it's just hard to believe he would let it would go by state law.
