Has anyone on ATRL been enlisted or are currently in the armed forces?
I'm considering joining the Navy (not Rih's ) but I need some insight on what to know before hand and the whole recruitment process. Right now I'm currently working out and training my body before bootcamp. I'll decide if I truly want to go that route in 2-3 months.

I'm just kind of self conscious right now because I don't think I'm mentally strong enough to handle the stress. Like just working stresses me the hell out, I can't imagine all the ******** you have to go through in Bootcamp and then actual enlistment.
I'm getting my degree in May and I really want to work in the Nuclear field for the Navy. I have a really good GPA (3.7 ) and in engineering. I just want to score well on the tests so that I can get a spot.
Not yet. I'm going to think about what I truly want in my life throughout January and if I really want to go through with it I'll definitely take the tests needed.
I'm going to talk to a recruiter in a couple of days as the first step though. I've been reading about everything online and looking at guides.
No. But my friends who are planning to join the armed forces took a lot of training from different military based programs before hand. So they'd know what to expect during bootcamp.

Yeah I'm nervous because I really don't know anyone who has experience in the Armed Forces and didn't take ROTC or anything in High School/College.
I think you should be fine. Just be mentally prepared and lock that passion in, so you'll love everything you do
Thanks. I'm the type of person who thinks way to hard about stuff and learning all the terms and the hierarchy of the Navy is really overwhelming.
Ultimately I do better when I have a goal in mind. The thing about Armed Forces is that the organization is pretty clear cut and I can picture myself getting a position as a Nuke in the future but I really need to work on every aspect of myself. Hopefully my time in Bootcamp and the various schools will help me hone my frantic passion.
No, climbing up to high positions in the army is very hard and you can't be in the army your whole life.
I won't stop you tho, do it if you feel like it really fits in your future perspective.
I honestly would never do it myself but the choice is all yours
Wishimg you all the best if you do join the army/navy.. rooting for you
Currently in the USAF now for over 3 years and it's not that bad. I've been to the middle east once and it was not a hostile area. I say go for it, i thought i couldn't and I'm still here.
Just study for the test at this point and worry about the rest after that.
