I have to say that I love the academic freedom in the US in universities. You can take a course on Harry Potter novels, Beyoncé and feminism, underwater basket weaving, you name it.
Those are courses only, though. What happens when a major seems rather, nontraditional?
East Tennessee State University offers a major in
Bluegrass and Country Music. I find it a bit weird to dedicate your bachelor's degree to the history of country (it sounds more of a PhD subject within a media studies field)
Have you heard about other strange majors? I heard of Bowling Business Administration too...which makes sense I guess. Maybe you want to open a bowling place
