1k+ Sign Petition to Drop T From LGB
Quote:
We are a group of gay/bisexual men and women who have come to the conclusion that the transgender community needs to be disassociated from the larger LGB community; in essence, we ask that organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, Lambda Legal and media outlets such as The Advocate, Out, Huff Post Gay Voices, etc., stop representing the transgender community as we feel their ideology is not only completely different from that promoted by the LGB community (LGB is about sexual orientation, trans is about gender identity), but is ultimately regressive and actually hostile to the goals of women and gay men.
The vilification and harassment of women and gay/lesbian individuals who openly express disagreement with the trans ideology; a simple disagreement over an issue can result in responses that range from insults (“transphobic bigot”) to threats of physical harm (often, in the case of women, rape) and even death; the harassment by the transgender community of prominent individuals ranging from iconic gay rights activist/drag queen RuPaul and legendary feminist Germaine Greer has been particularly loathsome.
• The infringement of the rights of individuals, particularly women, to perform normal everyday activities in traditional safe spaces based on sex; this is most pernicious in the case of men claiming to be transgender demanding access to bathrooms, locker rooms, women’s shelters and other such spaces reserved for women.

Good Day and welcome to Sundays with Giselle.
This was brought to my attention by a sis of mine when British journalist Milo Yiannopoulos tweeted support of it and I think it opens up a larger conversation. Some feel that gays are very entitled and that the root of this comes from a wanting to be normal. They don't want to dismantle prejudice, they simply want to be in the places of the oppressor. Essentially doing to trans people what they feel like straight people do to them. Some gays have expressed that with the recent rise of Laverne Cox and Caitlyn Jenner, they almost feel swept to the side. Which again goes back to the entitled idea.
So what are your thoughts? Discuss, civilly.

T is not a sexual orientation. It was lumped in the term just because of prejudice. It doesnt belong there.
And yes, gays can be very transphobic, but that doesnt justify your stupid bigotry agaisnt gay males, Giselle. I mean, not even the mentally challenged trash in your avi would be dumb enough to antagonize gay people.
OMG I didnt read the petition. What a bunch of idiotic, transphobic ****. Gay conservatives are literally the worst. There are some valid reasons why T should be separated, but mostly because to protect trans people from LGB idiots like the ones who created this petition.

Gays are known for being very transphobic, I'm not surprised.
What's next to get kicked out, the B?

it depends, transexual is NOT a sexual orientation like the other three, but dropping it sounds like backstabbing for some reason.

I see their point, sexual and gender identity is different.
Also part of the gp thinks every gay wants to be and dress as female therefore (for some) gay = transexual (also applies to lesbians) which isn't true. I feel like transexual people are less accepted than LGB so I see their point, they feel like the T is not helping the LGB movement.

Any LGBT or otherwise who signed this should be ashamed of themselves.

This is disgusting.
Anyway the journalist mentioned in the OP is a self hating *** who writes for Breitbart, a disgusting conservative news site.

Trans people still have a long ways to go. I know people who are accepting of LGB but not the T. It's not a contest.

The description of the petition is vile.
I don't think T should have been included with LGB in the first place since sexual orientation and gender identity are different but removing it now would be a huge regression for the LGBT community.

I am not a bigot. I'm simply presenting the thoughts of others.
I love everyone, but am able to speak critically of all things, people and groups. Including sexual minorities. This brings me back to a report I read a little over a year ago, examining why gays think no one should be able to speak critically of them. And that why when you do, you're immediately labeled a bigot.

Why are you friends with one then

The petition is nothing more than thinly veiled transphobia. Its like Christians denouncing LGBT simply because were standing up for ourselves. But this is just LGB attacking Trans people
