I often see people say stuff like "Oh, he was just as bad for killing the man who killed his child." or "You should never kill another human being under any circumstances." or something dumb like that, and I just don't get that mentality.

IMO, if someone has proven that they have no regard for human life and are perfectly fine with murdering an innocent person, they have more than lost their rights to human life. If I see someone trying to kill, murder, or seriously harm a loved one of mine, you best believe I'm gonna kill them with my bare hands and not feel a single damn way about it.

You're asking two very different things. Killing in self-defense, and killing for vengeance are not the same.

Killing in self-defense is justified imo, however it can depend on the circumstances (i.e. how much danger you actually are in)

Killing for vengeance is not, and the law agrees.

People trying to kill others deserve whatevers coming for them. That goes for soldiers too imo

No. I am against the taking of life. If someone is trying to kill me, I can defend without killing him. If I accidentally kill him, I'll kill myself as well because I wouldn't be able to live with that. I feel guilty for days if I kill an insect, now imagine the mental torture if I kill a person.

I'm a really compassionate person, but if someone comes after me or my mom with some deadly weapon and the intent to kill, I'll swiftly put a bullet in their head, without a second thought. I see it as a personal responsibility. When you decide to kill someone, you also take responsibility for someone else killing you, imo.

In terms of killing for self-defence, if it is a proportionate response to someone's attack/intent (i.e. they are trying to kill you) then it is justifiable.
