Greece threatens EU leaders of referendum on debt deal
Greece in referendum warning ahead of crunch meeting
Finance minister Yanis Varoufakis upped the stakes sharply ahead of Monday's crucial Eurogroup meeting in Brussels by raising the prospect of new Greek elections or even a referendum on any debt deal.
If eurozone ministers do not accept seven major reforms Greece has put forward to unlock the next tranche of its much-needed bailout, "there could be problems", he warned in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera on Sunday.
"We can go back to elections. Call a referendum," he told the daily. "But, as my prime minister told me, we are not glued to our seats yet."

I say yes for the fact that they might bring the whole of the EU down... Even though officials say we are much more secure then a few years ago when their problems with debt first occured.

I'm Greek and YES, we obviously deserve a chance. You all outside Greece have no idea, the salaries are increasingly low, the poverty is real, there have been thousands of suicides. Germany and the rest of Europe needs to remember how a huge part of Germany's debt after WW2 was deleted. And of course, all the European citizens should support us, cause sooner or later EU (which cares so much about all the european countries and supports the right - I'm being ironic) will get your country in the same boat with us.

I agree with you even though it wasn't EU that put you in this situation but rather your own politicians over the years. And I do not agree with the Germany WW2 argument either...

You're so right about the Greek politicians part. I meant that EU is making it more and more difficult by forcing the government to reduce salaries etc. I mean, how is Greece supposed to EVER get out of this economy mess if we give ALL of our income to pay off the debt? This doesn't make ANY sens, things will be getting worse and worse. Frugality is not the solution.

Yes Greece needs dept relief without further cuts to salaries. I heard that dept over 90-95% of GDP is unsustainable especially if the dept is is not from internal sources. In Greece's case this is obviously much higher already...

So you want to kick out two of the main countries that make Europe, Europe?
Have fun with that.
But anyways, the EU needs a revamp, but I never really saw Greece and a part of Europe.

So the Greeks vote for a bunch of thieves and we (the creditors) have to pay their embezzlement? ![deadbanana](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/bananas/deadbanana2_zpsd45da7d4.gif)

This is the exact mentality why this continent falls into total war every 50-100 years.

Well, it's a fact that Greece didn't want to learn, hasn't learned and probably never will, although the last one is debatable of course.
The fact that they all blame it on Germany, is beyond ridic.
If there was no Merkel who gets a lot of heat for how she is managing this situation, the whole EU would be in a much bigger crisis.
You can not spend money so excessively that you don't have and expect from everybody to help you.
I feel for the average person in Greece though. They really have to suffer from what their politicians and their laws have ****ed up.

Yes, they deserve a chance. To be quite honest I don't want my country to get to EU. the whole union is based on 3 countries which are getting rich because of that system (Germany, UK and France) and the rest are sinking like the union itself.
