So with all the videos and pictures we've seen of Digimon Cyber Slueth for PS Vita, and then of the two new Pokemon games, I can't help but feel Nintendo are ripping fans off.

Pokemon is such an iconic franchise that recently has felt like Nintendo are using it as more of a cash-cow than an actually series.

The new Pokemon games have basic graphics, nothing overly revolutionary and it kinda feels like Nintendo are doing the bare minimum. The games clearly don't have a big budget to them, and feel like little has changed over the years.


I feel like in 2014, we should be getting trailers that just blow us out of the water. Full 3D animations, crystal clear animations, brand new gameplay functions etc.

Of course Nintendo can release "Classic" games like they do with Mario, to keep old fans happy. But I stopped playing Pokemon back in the DS days just because nothing expect for different Pokemon felt new enough.




Do you feel like Nintendo need to step it up with Pokemon, or are you happy with what they are currently doing? Surely most of you would like a full on 3D Adventure game or RPG by now?

Why would they?

Minimum effort and small budgets still gets them huge profits and good reviews so they don't have any reason to step it up.

Personally, I'm bored with the formula now, but if it ain't broke...

We want a Pokemon stadium 3.

Because they get so much money from it, they can stay releasing the classic games, but at least put some effort into something incredible.

I feel like Nintendo won't do anything until they see a dramatic drop in sales. They don't seem "motivated" to be the best of the best, unlike when it comes to games like SMG or DKC where they suddenly want to release something amazing.

As in the drink? Drinks and Food are different because we don't seek entertainment value from them. We just want something that tastes good aha.

Well yeah, should they step it up? Definitely. Do they have to? Not at all.

IDK they seem pretty content with recycling the same thing over and over. I mean even Ash has been 10 years old for like 15 years now.

The games still sell like hot cakes so they really have no reason to switch it up other than catering to hardcore fans, but what's the use in that.

They will have too soon. The DS games like B&W caused a little tension in the fan base, and X&Y kinda saved them temporarily, but people are definitely getting a little tired. Still enjoying it nonetheless but just tired.

I'm surprised they haven't used Pokemon too boost the Wii U.

Until that happens, they will keep doing what works for them, honestly.

Just like the anime. Literally, the same thing, but people keep watching it, just like we keep buying the games.

The only way I see Pokémon getting those Digimon like graphics are if it gets a console release. Like, Stadium 3, but didn't they say that wasn't gonna work or something?

I'm kinda over Pokemon. I've had nearly every game for the handhelds since Red and Blue. I've had Stadium 1,2, Battle Revolution, Pokemon Snap, Coliseum, Gale of Darkness, Pokemon Channel, Hey you, Pikachu! for the consoles.

While they are fun to an extent, I just can't be bothered with the lack of growth. Battle Revolution reused the same models from Stadium 1 for crying out loud. Coliseum and Gale were nice because they're like the handheld games but on the big screen but they weren't traditional releases.

The only game I currently have is White. I've sold all the others and I only still have that one because it has all of the Pokemon I want to keep from like 2004 and on. I have no desire to go out and buy a 3DS or 2Ds to play X&Y. I played a friend's game for a bit but I'm just like "Oh, same old same but just a little different"

They could make a whole new game and the world would flipout, but i guess the fact they gotta now animate like a thousand Pokemon makes that less likely.

Unless they did it per region starting with the first series.

It's moving along at a fine pace for me. I mean I guess they could release something really advanced in terms of graphics but where will they go from there? They release games every year or two. We'd then get the exact same thing until they moved on to a radically superior console.

I'd rather they just ease into new things the way they do now. I was/am mad @ them taking multiple steps back with the re-separation of Pokecenters and Pokemarts plus the removal of trainer customization for ORAS but as long as it's just to preserve the "classic feel" of those games I suppose I'm alright with it. Even if that is a dumb reason.

Isn't that what video games are for though? They're just there to provide fun.

I don't think they should change anything besides how maybe battles look and the occasional storyline twist. they have a solid foundation that people are used to and are mostly aimed at kids. When they get older, the remakes come out for nostalgia.

If they make any major changes to appeal to older people who want to play the games, they risk losing their appeal to kids. That's how I see it anyway.

Also, they had other games like ranger for experimentation and ranger was awful.
